From August 29, 2019 17:30 until August 29, 2019 20:00
Uniting Church in Australia invites you to:
Report Launch of the Resilient Women Project
Date: Thursday 29 August 2019 Time: 5:30pm to 8pm
Location: Centre for Theology and Ministry, 29 College Crescent, Parkville, VIC 3052
You are warmly invited to attend The Report Launch of TheResilient Women Project. Over the past five years, many of you have participated in the Resilient Women Project workshops and forums held across Victoria.
The project addressed the complex patterns of Islamophobia and how it shapes prejudice and violence against Muslim women in Victoria.
This event will present the report that has resulted, which draws on the data from these forums and workshops.
The report reflects on the lived experiences of Muslim women as victims of prejudice. It examines the impacts which result from the intersecting spaces Muslim women occupy: as women, as Muslims and, for many, as women of colour.
It also explores the impact upon both identity and belonging as Australian Muslim women, as well as the many challenges to accessing justice that were disclosed.
We invite you to hear from guest speakers and be part of the change and to work together in this important community safety issue.
We are so grateful for your participation, and hope you will be interested in hearing about, and reading, what has resulted.
