Welcome to FCCV

Established in 2010, the Faith Communities Council of Victoria (FCCV) is Victoria’s umbrella multifaith body. It is the successor to the Leaders of Faith Communities Forum, founded in 1995.

FCCV was created to contribute to the harmony of the Victorian community by promoting positive relations between people of different faiths and greater public knowledge and mutual understanding of the teachings, customs and practices of Victoria's diverse faith traditions.

Religious Persecution: Monash Interfaith Gathering

Monash Interfaith Gathering invites you to:

Religious Persecution

Date: Thursday 16 February 2023      Time: 7pm to 9pm
Location: Online and In person | Monash Council Hall, 293 Springvale Rd, Glen Waverley VIC 3150

Persecution lies at the intersection of interfaith relations and the relationship between state and religion. It remains one of the great problems facing our modern world, and a central concern to the work of Monash Interfaith Gathering (MIG).

How can we understand its causes, motifs and who is behind it?
What can we do - globally, nationally, as communities, and as individuals - about persecution?
How are we to move beyond persecution to live in harmony with one another?

MIG welcomes Professor Joseph Camilleri, who will speak on the subject of Religious Persecution.

About the speaker:

Joseph A. Camilleri OAM is Emeritus Professor, La Trobe University and Managing Director of Alexandria Agenda. He was founding Director of the Centre for Dialogue, La Trobe University (2006-2012), and has authored or edited over thirty books and more than 100 book chapters and journal articles. He has lectured and worked with many organisations in Australia and internationally around issues of governance, the role of religion and culture in society, the dialogue of religions and cultures, education, dialogue, peace and security, and human rights. In recent years he has convened some twenty national and international dialogues and conferences. He is the recipient of the Order of Australia Medal, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences, and Convener of Conversation at the Crossroads. (https://crossroadsconversation.com.au/)
