DESCRIPTION:Passover (Hebrew\, Yiddish Pesach) is a predominantly Jewish ho
ly day and festival. It commemorates the story of the Exodus\, with the na
me of the festival derived from the moment when God ‘passed over’ the Jewi
sh homes when inflicting the tenth plague on the people of Egypt. Followin
g the ten plagues\, the Jews were freed from slavery.\nOn the first night
of the Passover\, Jewish families gather to share the Seder meal. The word
Seder comes from the Hebrew word meaning ‘order’\, and refers to the orde
red ritual of the meal. \nPassover is one of the most widely observed Jewi
 sh holidays. https://www.faithvictoria.org.au/upcoming-events/event/225-pe

DESCRIPTION:Easter is the central religious feast in the Christian calendar
year. According to Christian scripture\, Jesus rose from the dead on the
third day after his crucifixion. The date on which Easter falls differs ea
ch year. Both Western and Orthodox churches calculate Easter by different
methods\, often resulting in the observance taking place on slightly diffe
rent dates. On occasion the dates coincide.\nOn the Friday just prior to E
aster Sunday\, known as Good Friday\, the death of Jesus on the cross is o
bserved. Easter Sunday\, three days later\, celebrates the resurrection of
Jesus Christ. As the resurrection is the basis of Christian theology and
doctrine\, there are a number of related key dates in the lead up to it th
at are observed. Both Western and Orthodox churches observe Lent\, 40 days
of spiritual preparation\, which was traditionally a time of fasting. Aga
in\, the times for observing Lent are slightly different for the two tradi
 tions. https://www.faithvictoria.org.au/upcoming-events/event/226-easter-c
