 st won the NSW Premier’s History Prize 2000 and was translated into five l

 do so.Keynote Speakers:\n DR JOHN QUILTER: Quilter was born to a farming f
 amily which had been in the Junee district since the 1890s and in Australi
 a since the 1820s. He was educated in Junee and Wagga. He graduated from t
 he University of Sydney in 1986 with first class honours and the universit
 y medal in Philosophy and first class honours in Ancient Greek. He studied
  at the University of Pittsburgh from 1986 to 1990 where he gained an MA i
 n Philosophy. Whilst there\, he studied a great deal of Ancient Philosophy
  and Philosophy of Science studying under\, among others\, Wilfrid Sellars
 \, Adolf Gruenbaum\, Jonathon Dancy\, Jonathon Bennett\, David Gauthier\, 
 John McDowell\, Jennifer Whiting\, Jean Hampton\, Joe Camp and Annette Bai
 er. In 1989\, he began a PhD under Prof John McDowell but then could not f
 inish it due to family circumstances requiring his return to Australia. He
  began work at ACU in 1990. Since that time\, he has been connected with t
 he Plunkett Centre for Ethics. Quilter completed studies in Information Te
 chnology in 2001 and completed his PhD in 2009 at Macquarie University und
 er Prof Catriona MacKenzie. The thesis concerned Moral Luck. Quilter has p
 ublished on topics in Ancient thought\, Metaphysics\, Philosophy of Religi
 on\, and Moral Philosophy. He regularly supervises research students. He i
 s the Chairperson of the REC for Australia Hearing\, Chair of the Academic
  Advisory Committee of St. Patrick's Institute of Education\, was Chief Ex
 aminer of the HSC subject Studies of Religion 2008-2011\, is on the Anglic
 are REC for Canberra-Goulburn and has been or is a member of several Resea
 rch Ethics Committees and served on numerous committees within ACU. He wor
 ks on two campuses of ACU: Strathfield and Canberra. He has been a Fulbrig
 ht scholar and held a number of academic prizes and scholarships\, includi
 ng a small ARC grant. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of 
 Auckland\, the RSSS at ANU and Orebro University in Sweden. Quilter has be
 en married for 32 years to his wife Theresa Angert-Quilter\, who is a prie
 st of the Anglican Church\, a Scripture scholar and feminist theologian. Q
 uilter and Rev Angert-Quilter have two sons\, Joseph\, and John Patrick wh
 o is married to Margaret and is the father of Zariah Mary.DR SVEN SCHOTTMA
 NN: Dr Sven Alexander Schottmann is a Research Associate at the Centre for
  Dialogue\, La Trobe University. His main research interests are social mo
 vements in the ‘Muslim world’ and Southeast Asian politics. He is the conv
 ener of the Muslim Leadership Program\, organized annually by the Centre f
 or Dialogue and the Islamic Council of Victoria\, as well as The M Project
 \, a new forum for Muslim engagement with the challenges confronting human
 ity as a whole. He is also the Muslim Faith Coordinator for the 2012 Winte
 r Conference of the Jewish Christian Muslim Association of Australia. Sven
  was born in Hong Kong in 1977 to German expatriate parents\, and grew up 
 between Hong Kong\, Germany and Singapore where he embraced Islam twenty y
 ears ago. He is married to Nursyahida Mohamed Roslan and has a three-year 
 old daughter\, Amira Victoria. Sven was previously a student at the Intern
 ational Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur\, DePaul University in Chicago\
 , the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London\,
  and earned his doctorate for a study of Malaysia’s former Prime Minister 
 Mahathir Mohamad at Monash University in 2011. Sven has been in Melbourne 
 since 2006 and thinks it’s the most wonderful place in the world.For furth
