 n people will vote in a new referendum to formally recognise Indigenous Au
 stralians in the national Constitution.\nIt is nearly 50 years since the m
 onumental 1967 referendum on Aboriginal affairs that was supported by an u
 nprecedented and unrepeated nine in every ten Australians. Today's many ad
 vocates for constitutional recognition\, including both major political pa
 rties and a surging number of ordinary Australians\, hope to repeat that s
 ignificant achievement in a new referendum.\nNoel Pearson\, the renowned I
 ndigenous activist and Chairman of the Cape York Group\, is delivering a s
 pecial\, one-off Melbourne lecture on the case for this landmark constitut
 ional reform.\nNoel is a prominent Indigenous leader\, land rights activis
 t and lawyer\, having completed his articles at Arnold Bloch Leibler in Me
 lbourne. He comes from the Guugu Yimidhirr community of Hopevale on the So
 uth Eastern Cape York Peninsula.\nNoel is a vocal supporter of constitutio
 nal reform and he is a leading national policy figure working to close the
  gap in Indigenous disadvantage. This January\, Noel was named 'The Austra
 lian' newspaper's 2014 Australian of the Year.\nJoin the Australasian Unio
 n of Jewish Students and the B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation Commission for t
 his special lecture on Tuesday 8 April 2014. Doors open at 6:45 pm for a 7
