The Theme is “ Relationships: Encountering An Other”\nThe topic is ‘relationships’ and we have three great speakers\, a Jew\, a Christian and a Muslim\, speaking f rom their area of expertise on relationships at a community\, family and p ersonal level. The subtitle for our Seminar “Encountering An Other” is taken\, with her permission\, from Ruth’s 2012 research paper “Encountering an-other : the culture of curricu lum and inclusive pedagogies”\, published in Bekerman\, Zvi and Geisen\, T homas (eds)\, International handbook of migration\, minorities and educati on : understanding cultural and social differences in processes of learnin g. Ruth has recently completed a paper which specifically looks at the way s that religious identities (Hindu\, Buddhist\, Muslim\, Jewish and Christ ian) have been discussed in the mainstream Australian newspapers\, discuss ing the implication of those stereotypes for the ways that Australian reli gious identities are understood generally and considering the consequences of this exploration for anti-racist pedagogies in Australian schools.\nMs Denise Lacey (CatholicCare): Denise Lacey is manager of the Marriage and Relationship Education Unit at CatholicCare. She manages a team of 37 educ ators in providing programs that include pre-marriage\, marriage enrichmen t\, bringing your baby home\, developing healthy relationships\, a VCE pro gram\, Vietnamese couples and parenting programs\, African dads and kids\, and programs for deaf couples and children. At CatholicCare she is respon sible for program and resource development\, supervision\, employment and training. She has always had an interest in adult relationship education\, and in her role she seeks to convey to every couple that their marriage i s important\, not only to them but to us and of course the whole community . Denise is a wife\, mother\, and grandmother.\nDr Senem Eren (Nasihah Con sulting): Senem is a dedicated life coach who holds provisional registrati on as a Psychologist who is passionate about empowering people to build on their unique strengths and experience their life with purpose. She has be en working as a psychological researcher since 2005 and has recently compl eted her PhD at Melbourne University\, examining the emotional responses o f children who have experienced a head injury. Senem has completed a Bache lor of Science (Melbourne University)\, Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology (La Trobe University) and a Cert IV in Life Coaching. As a public speaker and trainer\, she has delivering numerous seminars and workshops in both Melbourne and Turkey. Senem has been awarded over $95\,000 in awards and s cholarships for her work as a PhD scholar and has presented extensively at both national and international conferences. Her research has also been p ublished in several internationally renowned journals. \; Senem has pa ssion for people and living a life full of positivity.
