 uddhist Council of Victoria invite you to join us for an Interfaith Prayer
  and Chant Ceremony for Japan on Saturday 9 April\, from 10:00 am to 11:15
  am.\nThe event will take place at BMW Edge\, Federation Square\, Corner o
 f  Swanston and Flinders Streets.  Doors open at 9:30 am. Free event.\nFol
 lowing the devastation of the Great East Earthquake of 9 magnitude on Marc
 h 11\, followed by the 7 metre tsunami\, and the breakdown of the Fukushim
 a nuclear-power plant\, the situation is grave. The death toll is over 12\
 ,000\, more than 15\,000 people are missing\,  2\,700 people have been inj
 ured and over 240\,000 people have been displaced.\nAdults and children ar
 e in shock and grief. 135\,000 homes have been destroyed\, washed away or 
 burnt down.\nWhile we need to donate financially\, we also feel the need t
 o give spiritually to those who mourn\, to those still in shock\, to those
  who are injured and to those who have lost their homes and possessions.\n
 On Saturday we will share our loving thoughts and prayers for the Japanese
