DESCRIPTION:A significant celebration for the Bahai faith is Naw-Ruz\, or N
ew Year.  Baha'i adherents observe a sunrise to sunset fast for nineteen d
ays leading up to Naw-Ruz.\nThe Baha'i calendar has nineteen months\, each
of nineteen days duration. The months and days are named after nineteen a
ttributes of God. The first of the nineteen is the Arabic word 'Baha'\, tr
anslated as something similar to 'glory'. New Year\, being the first day o
f the first month becomes the 'Baha' day of the 'Baha' month. In this way\
, the first day of the first month (New Year) symbolises the most glorious
  name of God.\nAbdu'l-Bahá\, Bahá'u'lláh's son and successor\, explained t
he significance of Naw-Rúz in terms of spring and the new life it brings.
He explained the equinox is a symbol of the Manifestations of God\, who in
clude Jesus\, Muhammad\, the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh among others\, and the me
ssage they proclaim is like a spiritual springtime\, and that Naw-Rúz is u
 sed to commemorate it. https://www.faithvictoria.org.au/upcoming-events/ev
