The Serbian Orthodox wedding ceremony is rich in history and symbolism. What takes place within the ceremonial taking of sacred vows is much more than just traditional pomp and ceremony. For the two people it represents a union with each other and creating a new household or 'kingdom' together based on shared understanding and commitment with the support of their faith and beliefs.

• What is the significance of performing some of the rituals three times?
• What is the meaning of the crowning ceremony and why do the couple drink wine from the chalice together?
• What important role does the Kum and Kuma play?
