The Manningham Interfaith Network warmly invites you to a Movie Night at the Palace Cinema, Balwyn, on Sunday 20 May, commencing at 6.00 pm with sandwiches and a chance to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.
The movie is THE WAY, a story about family, friends and the challenges we face while navigating this ever-changing and complicated world. Martin Sheen plays Tom, an irascible American medical doctor who comes to France to deal with the tragic loss of his son (played by Emilio Estevez), killed in the Pyrenees during a storm while walking the Camino de Santiago, a Catholic pilgrimage route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain, also known as ‘the Way of St. James’. Rather than return home, Tom decides to honour his son's desire to finish the journey. What Tom does not plan on is the profound impact this trip will have on him. Through unexpected and oftentimes amusing experiences along ‘The Way’, Tom discovers the difference between "the life we live and the life we choose.” Inexperienced as a trekker, Tom soon discovers that he will not be alone on this journey. On ‘The Way’, Tom meets other pilgrims from around the world, each with their own issues and looking for greater meaning in their lives. THE WAY, written and directed by Emilio Estevez, was filmed entirely in Spain and France along the actual Camino de Santiago.
The cost will be $22 per person, plus drinks. Please email Garry Nolan at - min.gn@bigpond.com or call on 0408 074 782 if you would like to see this powerful and inspirational story.
