The Brimbank and Maribyrnong Interfaith Network Committee in conjunction with Brimbank City Council launched A Taste of Faith: Stories of Hope and Inspiration at a special event on Harmony Day, Thursday 21 March, from 5.30-8pm at the Victoria University Convention Centre, with over 70 attendees.

A Taste of Faith: Stories of Hope and Inspiration aims to promote understanding and acceptance of all religions, while creating and sharing spiritual connection.

The book features writings of nine local faith leaders from diverse spiritual and cultural backgrounds. The stories highlight diverse perspectives of faith and detail the faith leaders’ personal experiences in the Cities of Brimbank and Maribyrnong and their involvement in the Brimbank and Maribyrnong Interfaith Network Committee (BMIN).

Attendees were addressed by Hanifa Deen, an award winning Australian author and former Deputy Commissioner of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission of Australia. Attendees were given the opportunity to meet and greet interviewed Faith representatives, sample recipes prepared by Victoria University Chefs and were given a copy of the book to take home.

Verbal feedback from attendees was that they were very pleased with the event:

“This was a lovely event, we heard some very good speakers and heard the lovely vocies of the multicultural choir and were treated to some lovely vegeterian food. These events are so good because as a community we can come together and embrace and acknowledge each other and come to an understanding that we are not so different after all.
