The Chua Quan Than Temple

The first stop was the Chua Quan Than Temple located in Springvale. Mr Leng Chaiwatanatorn hosted the group and explained the basic origins and tenets of Taoism. The traditional architecture of the temple gives it a unique and exotic look. The exterior as well as the interior of the temple is beautifully decorated with artefacts, sculptures and symbols. Mr Chaiwantanatorn explained the significance of the symbols and the offerings.

The St Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church

The second place of worship was the St Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Springvale, which is one of the largest in Australia. Constructed in traditional architecture, the place of worship stands out from afar. With the approach of Easter, some of the discussion revolved around the differences between the Orthodox and other Churches in observing the Lent and Easter. The interior of the Church was adorned with beautiful iconography.

 The Brahma Kumaris Spiritual Centre

The third place of worship was the Brahma Kumaris Spiritual Centre in Frankston. The group arrived at the Centre at approximately 12:30pm. The host welcomed everyone for a delicious home-made vegetarian lunch. The group also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the Brahma Kumaris. Afterwards, the hosts took everyone on a bushwalk around the Centre.

The tour provided the patrons the opportunity to explore three very different faith traditions. It was a great experience for everyone.
