On Sunday, 17 May 2015, the Geelong Interfaith Network took part in the Symphony of Peace Prayers (SOPP) at Geelong West Town Hall.

It was a joy filled event with people of different faith backgrounds attending, and where faith leaders were invited to say prayers individually and collectively.

It was also an opportunity for people to participate in the Fuji Declaration Launch and to show their support by signing a declaration.

A prayer for peace was offered for each country of the world symbolically using the flag of each nation (there are over 194 flags). The name of each nation was called out, after which everyone said together, “May peace be in………”

A small group of bollywood dancers performed midway through the program. The energies swirling and the colours of costume created a heightened sense of joy and happiness that flowed easily to the rest of the program.

Grandmother Kiri Dewes, founder of the Australian Counsel of 13 Grandmothers, delivered a talk on the creation of this group, based on the native American tradition of wisdom holders.

To close the celebrations, everyone joined in a circle around the table of flags and earth elements, focusing their attention on all world countries, honouring their existence, and all that dwells therein.

Thank you to all who attended and supported in any way this celebration of the peace potential within us all...the divine spark!
