On Thursday 18 June 2015, the Melton Interfaith Network held a Refugee Week event in partnership with the City of Melton. The event was held at the Melton Library and Learning Hub and attended by approximately 70 people.

The Mayor Cr Sophie Ramsay spoke about the significance of Refugee Week and the theme “With courage let us all combine”.

David MacPail from Ballarat Asylum Seekers Resource Center spoke about services being offered to asylum seekers and what is being done to assist them in their settlement phase in Australia.

Two video segments were shown. The first video was about the needs of refugees and the other video shared a story of a young refugee.

A local primary school participated with year 6 students sending in entries regarding how we can make refugees feel welcome.

The event was enjoyed by all who attended.
