On Monday November 21st, the Faith Communities Council of Victoria held a Say No to Racism- Bystander Training Workshop at the Victorian Council of Churches.
The full-day training was as a follow-up to an introductory workshop held at the 2016 Victorian Interfaith Network Conference. Participants came from various parts of Victoria, both regional and metropolitan. The training workshop was facilitated by Ananth Gopal and Dure De Winter from Polykala, a leadership training organisation.

Throughout the course of the day, facilitators used a variety of activities to help participants peel through various layers so as to reach a stage of self-awareness where they could initiate safe and constructive action against racism.
Activities included answering introspective questions, reacting to thought-provoking situations, and participating in forum-style theatre. Each activity was aimed to help participants learn through directed reflection and targeted practice.
This thought-provoking and educational training was hailed as an extremely beneficial exercise by all participants who expressed the need and desire for further workshops on similar topics.
