Frank Purcell on “Islam and Australian Secular Society”
Dr Frank Purcell is President of the Shepparton Interfaith Network and a member of the Victorian Council of Churches Living Faiths Commission. He is a former Columban priest, with a doctorate from Rome, and has served and taught extensively in Australia, Japan and the Philippines.
Dr Frank Purcell will address the theme of his recent doctoral thesis at Latrobe University: The challenges - for both Catholics and Muslims - of inculturating faith in a secular democracy, though one that has Judeo-Christian foundations. What does mission mean in such a complex context, and what role does interfaith dialogue play?
