A Buddhist/Catholic discussion on Care in Hospitals and Prisons

Venue: Buddhist Society of Victoria, 71 Darling Street, Malvern East

A day for understanding the caring needs of different faiths and cultures for those who are unwell and for those who have committed unwholesome deeds, with speakers from both the Catholic and Buddhist faith. The aim of this seminar is to raise awareness and understanding of the diverse worldviews of Catholics and Buddhists in relation to suffering and pain in sickness and imprisonment, and to explore what can we learn from each other on the role of chaplains and pastoral carers, fostering mutual support and interfaith communication.

Speakers: Dr. Thel Thong  (Cambodian Community), Mr Brian Welsh (Alfred Hospital), Venerable Miao Bo and Venerable Miao Li (Fo Guang Shan and Buddhist Light International Australia), Ms Marg Hayes (Catholic Prison Ministry).
