Established in 2010, the Faith Communities Council of Victoria (FCCV) is Victoria’s umbrella multifaith body. It is the successor to the Leaders of Faith Communities Forum, founded in 1995.

FCCV was created to contribute to the harmony of the Victorian community by promoting positive relations between people of different faiths and greater public knowledge and mutual understanding of the teachings, customs and practices of Victoria's diverse faith traditions.

Reverend Garry Deverell

Rev Cannon Dr Garry Worete Deverell is a Trawloolway man from northern Trouwerner/Tasmania and an Anglican theologian. He is the author of Gondwana Theology: a trawloolway man reflects on Christian faith (ATF 2024) and Contemplating Country: more Gondwana theology (Wipf & Stock 2023). His work explores the space between Aboriginal spiritualities and Christian theologies. Dr Deverell sits on the boards of the National Indigenous Ecumenical Council and Six Rivers Aboriginal Corporation.

Professor Samina Yasmeen

Emerita Professor Samina Yasmeen AM is Director of the Centre for Muslim States and Societies at the University of Western Australia. A specialist in South Asian politics (particularly Pakistan), Islam in world politics, and immigrant women's citizenship, she has authored and edited several key works including Jihad and Dawah: Evolving Narratives of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamat ud Dawah (2017) and Understanding Muslim Identities (2008). Her research also encompasses technology-facilitated abuse of women as an international issue. Professor Yasmeen has served on numerous advisory bodies, including the Australian Multicultural Council and the National Australia Day Council. Among her honours, she received the 2011 WA Citizenship Sir Ronald Wilson Leadership Award, was inducted into the WA Women's Hall of Fame in 2012, and was awarded Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2014. She regularly contributes to local and international media on Islam and Muslim affairs.

Rabbi Ralph Genende

Rabbi Ralph Genende is the Interfaith Liaison of AIJAC, Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council. Rabbi Ralph has held a number of Senior Rabbi roles including most recently at Jewish Care as Executive member and he served at the Caulfield Hebrew Congregation for 14 years. He continues in his role as Principal Rabbi to the Australian Defence Force, Member of the Religious Advisory Council to the Minister of Defence (RACS),and is a member of MAG, the Victorian Multicultural Advisory Group. In 2018, he was awarded an OAM for his services to multi-faith relations, and to the Jewish community of Victoria.
