The Banyule Interfaith Network (BIN) was publicly launched in December 2012. Since then, our first venture into interfaith dialogue has been to hold public forums with a panel of speakers, then everyone breaking into small discussion groups.Our first forum was in April on the topic ‘Faith and Marriage’. ‘Rites of Passage’ was the mysterious topic we chose for our second forum on September 15th – with a subscript ‘Fostering Faith from Birth to Adulthood’.

The Annual Forum of the Monash Interfaith Gathering was held on the 5th of September at the Clayton Theatrette. This year's theme was 'Mental Health - A Multicultural Perspective'. The forum was well attended by a cross section of the community, including people from various faith and ethnic backgrounds as well as members from the allied medical profession supporting mental health.

Hume council has never experienced anything like the extraordinary religious angst evident at last Monday night’s council meeting. More than 1000 people turned out at Broadmeadows to protest against a plan to build a mosque next to St Mary’s Ancient Church of the East in Coolaroo.

On behalf of Victoria’s faith communities, we join together to call on all Australian political parties and leaders to treat asylum seekers with the respect they deserve, and to uphold their basic rights to seek asylum in Australia, and to work and contribute to the Victorian and Australian community.

On Thursday 29th of August, it was a melding of minds and ideologies when Melton City Council hosted the inaugural meeting of the Melton Interfaith Network.

On Friday August 16th, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association (Victoria) held an interfaith Eid Festival dinner in Langwarrin to build bridges in the community.

Christmas is a time of celebration, community, and inclusion – but not everyone is included or feels they can be included. The Ballarat Interfaith Network thinks it is time for our multicultural, multi-faith society to consider an all inclusive community wide end-of-year celebration – an enterprise which could include people of all faiths and those who hold no faith at all. To this end, the Ballarat Interfaith Network is planning The Tree of Life Project.

On Monday 5th of August, in the spirit of building friendship across communities, the Buddhist Council of Victoria and the Australian Intercultural Society collabarated to arrange an Iftar dinner at the Vietnamese Quang Minh Buddhist temple in Braybrook.
