On Saturday 13th September, 2014, the Buddhist Council of Victoria and the Ecumenical and Interfaith Commission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne co-hosted a conversation on “Care in Prisons and Hospitals” at the Buddhist Society of Victoria’s centre in Malvern East.

Under the banner of the Gippsland Ethnic Communities' Council (GECC)  - Gippsland Interfaith, a forum was held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Tuesday 26th August, 2014 where project officers of the Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria (ECCV), Elena Petreska  and Susan Timmins, presented a report on the "Culturally Responsive Palliative Care Community Education Project 2013-2014". The forum was an overwhelming success and attended by over fourty people from a variety of faith groups.       

When 60 people met on Monday 25th August 2014 at Royal Children’s Hospital to talk about “Bagels, Baklava and Doner Kebabs”, you could have been forgiven for thinking they were chefs mixing foods and cultures. In fact, they were pastoral carers. They were talking about the mix of faiths and cultures in their work in hospitals, prisons and other centres.

On 23 August 2014, more than 200 leading women from all over Victoria participated in the Serving Humanity Interfaith Symposium luncheon organized by the Women’s Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Victoria at ‘Bait-ul-Salam’ (House of Peace) mosque, Langwarrin.

On Friday August 22nd, approximately 100 students aged 15 & 16 were treated to a memorable exploration of what faith and religion have to do with living in the 21st century. The Year 10 'Faith & Identity Retreat Day' took place at Christian Brothers College in St.Kilda and was excellent day of learning and sharing for all.

On Tuesday 5th of August, the Kingston Interfaith Network launched its annual Art Exhibition at St Nicholas Gallery Mordialloc. The event was opened by Mayor Councillor Paul Peulich and well attended by faith leaders, artists and local community.

We need to talk. But how can we all talk to each other, learn about our faiths and find commonalities, whilst appreciating our differences?
